Overview of Ingredients and Benefits

Our Inner Strength Proprietary Blend contains the following ingredients:

Nativ® Collagen (Native Type 2 Collagen):

Collagen is the principal structural protein in the body. In healthy people, collagen exists as a triple helix giving its fibers high tensile strength. Your body must keep the right metabolic balance to maintain normal joint, tendon, cartilage and ligament function. Cartilage is worn down and damaged during strenuous exercise, and the body's natural response creates muscle and joint soreness.

Native type 2 collagen has been extensively studied in peer reviewed journals and is suggested to support healthy joint comfort, mobility and flexibility levels*.

Inulin:

Inulin is a type of soluble fiber found in many plants.  It is a "fructan" - meaning that it is made up of chains of fructose molecules that are linked together in a way that cannot be digested by your small intestine.  Instead, it travels to the lower gut, where it functions as a prebiotic, or food source for the beneficial bacteria that live there.

Your gut bacteria convert inulin and other prebiotics into short-chain fatty acids, which nourish colon cells and provide various other health benefits, including supporting your digestive health and immune system.  We've also included inulin in our formulation to due to promising research that indicates that it may aid absorption of calcium and, particularly, magnesium*.

Glutamine:

Glutamine is the most abundant amino acid (building block of protein) in the body. According to the University of Maryland Medical Center, under extreme stress (including heavy exercise or after completing an endurance event like a marathon), your body may need more glutamine than it can make to support healthy immune system function. There is also anecdotal evidence suggesting that Glutamine may helps to build muscle and promote faster muscle recovery after exercise.

Mint Extract:

We included mint extract in our formulation due to its role in supporting digestive health*.  Mint is a calming and soothing herb that has been used for thousands of years to aid with upset stomach or indigestion. Mint is thought to increase bile secretion and encourage bile flow, which helps to speed and ease digestion (and which may also support healthy cholesterol levels).  Mint plants also contain an antioxidant and anti-inflammatory compound called rosmarinic acid.

Capsaicin:

A molecular compound found in spicy peppers, capsaicin has no dietary content, such as calories or additional nutrients. It’s found in every part of the pepper except for the seed, although the highest concentration of capsaicin is found in the inner wall where the seeds attach.  Animal research indicates that capsaicin may provide fat burning, muscle building and endurance benefits.  It is also being being researched for applications from reducing cancerous tumors, to gastroprotection, to reducing pain in humans.

Our Whole Foods Proprietary Blend Contains the Following Ingredients:

Chia Powder:

Chia seeds are tiny black seeds from the plant Salvia Hispanica, which is related to the mint.  This plant grows natively in South America.  Chia were prized by the Aztecs and Mayans for their ability to provide sustainable energy. Chia is the ancient Mayan word for strength.  We included Chia powder in our formulation due to the high concentration of protein, fiber, Omega-3 fatty acids and anti-oxidants.

Tumeric Powder:

Curcumin, a substance found in the spice turmeric, has long been used in Ayurvedic (traditional Indian) medicine to treat a variety of maladies.  We included tumeric powder to support healthy joint function*.

Research indicates that curcumin targets multiple steps in the inflammatory pathway, at the molecular level.  Scientists believe that curcumin blocks NF-kB, a molecule that travels into the nuclei of cells and turns on genes related to inflammation. NF-kB is believed to play a major role in many chronic diseases.

Magnesium:

Magnesium plays an essential role in healthy bone function, protein synthesis, muscle function, electrolyte balance, fatigue reduction and energy metabolism*.

Despite being an essential mineral, many people do not consume enough through their normal diet to maintain healthy levels. Strenuous exercise also increases your body's magnesium requirements, implying additional supplementation may be needed.

We’ve included it in our formulation to support healthy muscle, bones and nerve function in active individuals*.

Calcium:

Calcium supports normal energy metabolism, normal muscle function, normal neurotransmission and maintenance of normal bones*.

Inner Strength's calcium is meant to supplement calcium in your diet to help you reach 250 milligrams per day, which is the World Health Organization recommended dosage to support healthy bone function.
